IMPORTANT FACTS

Delayed Speech

Delayed Speech

During the period of development, a child is expected to say his/her first word at 12-18 months of age and complete his/ her first sentence at 32 months of age. Speaking is the child's sign of learning and maturation. The reasons for late speaking could be: difficult birth, defected physical health, upper and lower respiratory illness, efficiency of inner secretion glands, tongue, throat, and/or epiglottis infection, inadequate environmental factors (inefficient number of stimuli and behavioral mistakes of parents) and emotional disorders (late speaking is also seen in autism).
