AddictionAddictions to alcohol, cigarettes and other substances are becoming more common as the years pass. Teenagers who begin using illegal psychoactive drugs and become unable to live without these drugs need to seek special treatment. Use of alcohol and/or any substance causes severe damage to the brain, so treatment is done based on the biological, psychological and social perspectives.
If the intoxicating drug has become the individual's only aim in life, therapy needs to be provided immediately. If physical withdrawal symptoms have begun, then the person is in a dangerous situation and should seek help to try to stop using the substance before it becomes more damaging. In our addiction unit, a psychologist and psychiatrist work in cooperation to provide the best therapy necessary.
