Dr. Mustafa Bozbuğa is a professor of "Brain and Neurosurgery", anatomist and philosopher who mainly performs neuro-oncological surgery (tumour surgery), cerebrovascular surgery (cerebrovascular surgery), skull base surgery and advanced spine surgery. He is also a researcher and author in the areas in which he is interested.

Dr. Mustafa Bozbuğa first attended Sultanahmet 44 Elementary School and was admitted to the Faculty of Medicine at Istanbul University (Çapa) after Vefa High School, as he performed very well in the selection and placement examination for students. He graduated in 1983 with a very good result and received the title of "Medical Doctor". Later:

Medical specialisation: specialisation in neurosurgery (brain and neurosurgery) at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine (1985-1991).

Collaborated with Prof. Dr. M. Gazi Yaşargil at the Department of Neurosurgery, Zurich University Hospital in the clinic, operating room and microneurosurgery laboratory; "Microneurosurgery Training" in 1988 and 1989.

Completed an "International Fellowship" programme in "Skull Base Surgery and Microneurosurgery" with Prof. Dr. L.N. Sekhar at the Department of Neurosurgery, George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, USA (May 1993 - May 1994).

Completed an "International Fellowship" programme in "Skull Base Surgery and Microneurosurgery" with Prof. Dr. Akira Hakuba at the Department of Neurosurgery, Osaka City University School of Medicine in Osaka, Japan (June 1994 - October 1994).

After completing his overseas training, Dr. Mustafa Bozbuğa continued his work in Istanbul and became an associate professor of neurosurgery in 1999. After passing the required exams, he was appointed the founding director of the 2nd Department of Neurosurgery at Kartal Education and Research Hospital on January 15, 2001. Dr. Bozbuğa, the founder of this clinic, served in this position for nine years. During this time, a very intensive surgical practice was carried out with the highest level of successful operations, a productive academic environment was created, academic publications were prepared, and numerous specialists were trained.

Dr. Bozbuğa obtained his PhD in Anatomy, a fundamental scientific discipline in the theory and practise of neurosurgery, by completing his "Anatomy Doctoral Training" at the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul University (1998 - September 17, 2004).

After the opening of the professorship at the Faculty of Medicine of Trakya University of Neurosurgery was approved (July 2007), Dr. Bozbuğa was appointed as a university professor in January 2008 and received the title of "Professor of Neurosurgery".

In addition to his medical work, Dr. Mustafa Bozbuğa also studied philosophy at the university (2010-2014) and later received his PhD in philosophy from the Faculty of Philosophy, Istanbul University (2014-2021). In the field of philosophy, he has mainly focused on the "Philosophy

of Medicine" and the "Philosophy of human". In these fields, he has written (8) book chapters and lectured.

In his professional career, Dr. Mustafa Bozbuğa has authored four books, contributed to 36 book chapters and authored over 200 international and national publications registered at SCI. He has given about 150 scientific lectures and participated in numerous professional meetings, conferences, and scientific activities at home and abroad. His scientific publications have been cited in over 900 scientific papers published in international journals registered with SCI. He also serves as an editorial board member, scientific committee member, expert witness, and in various other capacities for many national and international journals. Although he is proficient in all types of brain and nerve surgery, his special interests are skull base surgery, neuro-oncology (tumor surgery), neurovascular surgery (surgery of cerebral vessels: aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, ...) and spine surgery (spinal cord tumors, vascular malformations, narrowing of the spinal canal, herniated disks in the neck and back, ...)." Dr. Bozbuğa has an extensive patient archive of surgeries he has performed in these areas. He is a member of numerous national and international professional, scientific and social organizations and has been listed in the annual biography publication "Who's Who in the World" since 1997.

From 2012 to 2015, Dr. Bozbuğa continued his work as head of the "Neurological Sciences Advanced Diagnosis and Treatment Centre" at Hisar Intercontinental Hospital in Istanbul. From 2015 to 2018, he worked as "Head of Brain and Nerve Surgery Department" at MedicalPark Gaziosmanpaşa Hospital. Since February 2018, he has been the "Founding Head of the Department of Brain and Nerve Surgery" at Ueskuedar University Faculty of Medicine, NPİstanbul Brain Hospital.

Dr. Bozbuğa is interested in music, theatre and cinema, literature, history and art history, painting and architecture in addition to his medical and philosophical work. He is married and has a 26-year-old son who is a mechatronics and computer technician.
